Parramatta Mission

TRANSFORMATION PROJECT LEAD

Parramatta Mission developed well respected and in demand mental health services over a fifty-year period employing 350 specialist staff with a reach across NSW engaging with both key government departments and the private sector. Organisational growth, specialisation and an increasingly complex regulatory framework led to the desire for these services to be redeployed within the Uniting Church of Australia (NSW/ACT).

our engagement

We were engaged to develop a transition program to initially select a “partner of best fit” where the services would continue to thrive, and then transition those mental health services including support activities and infrastructure to the selected partner.

This entailed development of a complex phased project to achieve the best results, while ensuring value for money and making sure no clients were impacted by any service interruption.

The first project phase was to develop and apply objective evaluation criteria which resulted in Uniting being nominated as the preferred partner for the transition. Subsequent project phases followed which included a thorough due diligence process to confirm suitability of fit, and provide a basis for negotiation of a Transition Agreement.

Once agreed we then led the development and execution for Parramatta Mission of a staged joint plan to transfer the services encompassing 45 programs with a combined revenue stream of $50M and associated personnel, properties, infrastructure and other assets of the mental health services.

the outcome

All services and contracts were successfully migrated without disruption. Our phased detailed planning and project control, measurement and reporting throughout ensured that all stakeholders were informed and engaged in the process while providing a mechanism to ensure that there were no lose ends at project completion.

“This was a phenomenal result for the Mission. Without this support we could never have achieved such a successful transition”

The application of technical skills, as well as the ability to present and assess options for decision support contributed significantly to enabling the successful completion of this transaction.
